Visit Mont Saint-Michel from our gîtes in Normandy
For only 3 km from Clos Saint-Gilles, Mont Saint-Michel is one of the most visited tourist sites in France.
The abbey, founded in the VIIIᵉ century (traditionally in 708), dominates the medieval village built on the rock. The architectural complex, developed between the XIᵉ and XVIᵉ centuries, blends Romanesque and Gothic styles. The site is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
The Bay of Mont Saint-Michel is famous for its high tides. It can be explored on guided crossings on foot, organised by accredited professionals. From horse riding are also available in the bay.
